The SpilLess Consortium includes six organisations, comprising three research institutions (CIIMAR, INESC TEC and the University of Vigo) and three private companies (ACSM, Biotrend and MARLO), which are located in three different European countries: Portugal, Spain and Norway. This Blue Lab will be implemented in the Atlantic Ocean, with focus on the sub-regions of the Euro region Galicia – Norte Portugal, an area exposed to marine pollution incidents


CIIMAR – Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research – is a research and advanced training institution hosted by the University of Porto. Its mission is to develop exceptional-quality research, promote technological development and innovation and support public policies in the area of Marine and Environmental Sciences.


INESC TEC – Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science –is an Associate Laboratory with more than 30 years of experience in R&D and technology transfer. Present in 6 sites in the cities of Porto, Braga and Vila Real, INESC TEC incorporates 13 R&D Centres and one Associate Unit with complementary competences, always looking to the international market.


UVIGO – University of Vigo –  it is a public, autonomous institution, open to the environment, internationally oriented and committed to quality teaching and research.

It has a large experience in marine and maritime research through the International Campus of Excellence “Campus do Mar”, with more than 3500 researchers from 25 R&D institutions from the Euro-region Galicia-Northern Portugal.


Biotrend  –  is a research-based company focused on the development, optimization, de-risking and scale-up of bioprocesses for industrial biotechnology. Clients range from start-up companies without bioprocessing know-how and infrastructure to large chemical to pulp and paper companies exploring the opportunities of industrial biotechnology and of the use of renewable raw materials, including industrial by-products, to create value.


MARLO  – with activities in Norway, Germany and Portugal has been engaged in research and development projects funded by the European Commission since it was established in 2006. The projects have covered transport, logistics, and maritime activities.  The company has an extensive network in the oil and gas industry within the EU and beyond and is a member of the Shipping & Offshore Network in Norway.


ACSM – Advanced Crew and Ship Management – provides global maritime services such as nautical management of vessels as well as complete services of submersible ROV vehicles for offshore projects with clients from all over the world. Established in 2001, ACSM key personnel has more than 15 years’ experience in marine and subsea services for offshore operations.
