27 Jul Dissemination of the SpilLess project
Since its beginning, members of the the SpilLess project have been actively involved in numerous outreach activities and networking events, with the ultimate goal of disseminating the goals and outputs of the project within the scientific community and to the general public.
1st SpilLess Workshop @ Business2Sea (June 2017)
Within the framework of Business2Sea, an international event dedicated to stakeholders from different activity sectors of maritime economy, SpilLess held a workshop that joined stakeholders from different areas, including naval authority, oil refineries, maritime transport companies, ports authorities, commercial harbor companies and research institutions.
FEMS Microbiology Congress 2017 (July 2017)
SpilLess attended the FEMS Microbiology Congress, which took place in Valencia, Spain. A broad overview of the project, including its objectives and preliminary results were summarized in a scientific poster and presented by Rafaela Mendes.
Porto Water Innovation Week (September 2017)
SpilLess was represented at Porto Water Innovation Week, with a general overview of the project, its objectives and outputs, by Ana Paula Mucha, leader of the project.
Encontro Nacional de Estudantes de Bíoquimica (March 2018)
In this outreach activity, the scientific and technical aspects of the SpilLess project were introduced to several undergraduate students from Portugal, through several hands-on activities and small lectures given by Maria Bôto and Rafaela Mendes.
7th European Bioremediation Conference (June 2018)
SpilLess attended the joint International conference EBC-VII / ISEB 2018, which took place in Chania, Crete from June 25 to June 28. The main results achieved so far were presented by Rafaela Mendes, with special emphasis on the biotechnological aspects of the project.
Encontro Ciência 2018 (July 2018)
SpilLess was presented at Encontro Ciência 2018 by Ana Paula Mucha in the “Protect Marine Life” panel. This annual event joins portuguese researchers from all scientific backgrounds to stimulate scientific dissemination to the general public.
